Dennis E. Hubbard

Dennis E. Hubbard

Dennis E. Hubbard was born on January 9, 1960, in Jena, LA to Monroe and Shirley Hubbard. He grew up in Zwolle, LA living with his parents, two older brothers, and younger sister. At the age of 18, after the passing of his father, he took care of his mother, sister, and nephew, and then eventually moved to the Ft. Jesup area in 2014 after marrying at the age of 54.

He attended Zwolle Schools graduating from high school in 1978 before transferring to Northwestern State University. He started college working towards an Accounting degree then changed majors and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology in 1983. Dennis began working at Sabine State Bank as a teller on October 12, 1981. He worked as the head of the IT department for many years and became Senior Vice-President working in lending at the time of passing. At the time of his death, he was the longest-living original employee of Sabine State Bank at 42 years.

Dennis also worked on the Board of Directors for the Zwolle Tamale Festival as treasurer since April 2017. He also volunteered as choir director for years at First Baptist Church in Zwolle, taught Sunday School at both FBC Zwolle and Westside Baptist Church, and sang bass on the worship team and in the choir at Westside.

Dennis was an avid duck and dove hunter, loved long hot baths—using only Dove bar soap, ate peppermints like they were going out of style, and drank Dr. Pepper religiously. He referred to most women as “sweetie”, “honey”, “darling”, or other terms of endearment and demonstrated great respect to his parents and others in authority. Dennis was loyal, loved unconditionally, and was a fierce protector of his family and close friends. He was funny, fair, compassionate, and generous.

Dennis passed from this earthly life to his eternal Heavenly home on November 21, 2023 in Many, LA at the age of 63. He was preceded in death by his father, Monroe Hubbard, and mother, Shirley Hubbard. He was survived by his wife, Debbie Hubbard; step-children Tobie Campbell, Devon Campbell, Britain Campbell, and Emma Estrada, son-in-law Luis Estrada, and 9-month-old granddaughter Aurea Estrada; brother Dwaine Hubbard and wife Kay Hubbard; brother James Hubbard and wife Melody Hubbard; sister Kathy Jackson; aunt Catherine Roberts; nephews McLain Hubbard and Edward Jackson; nieces Leigh Hubbard and Alexis Hubbard and her daughter Sage Hagelin, God-daughter Annalei Frederick; and a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones.
