Eldred Campbell

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Eldred Ray Campbell, 78, was held November 4 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Tim Hurd officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Zwolle. Eldred was born on February 6, 1938 in Noble to Isaac Corties Campbell and Emma Isabelle Sepulvado Campbell, and passed away on October 31, 2016. Eldred drove a forklift for most of his career. He enjoyed gardening, planting trees, and being outdoors. Eldred was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Eldred was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Emma Campbell, and his sisters, Cathy Smith, Sue Preston and Sina Sepulvado.

Patricia Durr

Memorial Services for Patricia A. Durr, 76, of Pleasant Hill, were held November 4 at Wallace Baptist Church in Pelican with Dr. Jeff Jinks officiating. Patricia was born on Sunday, June 16, 1940 in Newport News, Virginia. She passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at her home in Pleasant Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers and sisters and one grandson. She is survived by her husband, Charles G. Durr of Pleasant Hill; daughters, Catherine Fuss of Virginia and Cherie Wieman of Virginia; sons, Joseph Pulzone, II and wife Camille of Shreveport and George Pulzone and wife Carrie of Pleasant Hill; step-children, David Durr and wife, Tommie, of Natchitoches, Debra Modica of Texas and Terry Durr of Ft. Jessup; 28 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

The Rev. Brooks Coburn

Funeral services for the Rev. Brooks Coburn, 68, of Florien, were held on Saturday, November 5 at The Life Church in Many with the Reverends Jim Manning and Kevin Cox officiating. Burial followed in the Florien Cemetery. The Rev. Coburn was born on Tuesday, September 21, 1948 in Mansfield. He passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Willis Knighton Pierremont in Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobin O. Coburn and Marjorie Anita Goss Coburn and his son, Jonathan Coburn. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Coburn of Florien; daughter, Rebecca Barker and husband, Derek, of Bossier City; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Ruby Roberts

Graveside services honoring the life of Ruby Roberts, 95, were held November 1 at Spring Ridge in Pleasant Hill with the Rev. Wilton Anthony officiating Ruby was born on March 3, 1921 in Pleasant Hill to Annie Belle Tyler and Leroy Free. She passed away on Sunday October 30, 2016 at Mansfield Nursing Center in Mansfield with her family by her side. Preceding her in death were her husband, Wayne David Roberts; parents, Annie Belle Tyler and Leroy Free; sisters, Annie Aliene Bates and Virginia Clara Byles; and brother, Elmer Newell Free. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Knowlton Peterson and husband, Billy, of Lafayette along with three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Lucinda Sepulvado

Funeral services for Lucinda Sepulvado, 99, of Zwolle, were held November 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Richard Norsworthy officiating. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Lucinda Sepulvado was born on Friday, December 29, 1916 in Sabine Parish. She passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Desoto Regional Medical Center in Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli Garcie and Josephine Sepulvado Garcie; husband, Robert Sepulvado, Sr.; two infant children; brother, Jake Garcie; and sister, Lovell Guidroz. She is survived by her sons, Robert Sepulvado Jr.

Harlon Wright

Harlon W. Wright of Many, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Willis Knighton North Medical Center in Shreveport. He was surrounded by his loving family. Harlon graduated from Many High School in 1954. He spent some time working in the oil fields before opening Wright’s Texaco in Many alongside his father, Maston Wright. The two operated the business together until 1976. Harlon then joined Hanna Abington Ford. He was one of their highest achieving sales people and later served as finance manager for the dealership. In 1987, he joined People’s State Bank, where he enjoyed working for many years, and eventually retired as Branch President of the Zwolle location in 2003. More than one generation of children knew Mr. Wright as the bus driver who escorted them safely back and forth to school for 17 years. Throughout his varied career, he was well known and made many friends in Many and around Sabine Parish.

Kenneth “Knip” Knippers

Funeral services for Kenneth “Knip” Knippers, 79, of Robeline, were held October 29 at Friendship Church of the Nazarene with the Reverends James Ericson and Leon Manshack, and Deacon Scott Manuel officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Nazarene Cemetery. Knip was born on Sunday, November 15, 1936 in Robeline. He passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Many Health Care North in Many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Bessie Mathews Knippers and son, Kenneth Raymond Knippers.

Ben Rice

Ben Rice of Zwolle passed away October 30, 2016 at Sabine Retirement after a short illness. He was born January 1, 1936 in Edgewood, Texas to Clifford and Grace Rice. Ben joined the Marine Corps right out of high school. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1963 and made a career in the United States Air Force as a communications officer. After retiring from the Air Force he and his wife, Andrea, moved to Toledo Bend and he began teaching sciences such physics and chemistry in Texas for several years. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Andrea of Zwolle; sons, Mark and wife, Cyndi of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Matthew and wife, Marilez, of Beaumont, Texas and Michael of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Ben of Huntsville, Alabama, Grace of New Haven, Connecticut, and Ethan of Beaumont, Texas; and great grandchildren, Nate and Trent of Huntsville, Alabama. Charles Williams Sr.

Memorial graveside services for Charles Marvin Williams, Sr., 82, of Florien will be held November 5 at the Florien Cemetery. Marvin Williams was born on Saturday, November 18, 1933 in Leesville. He passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Sabine Retirement & Rehabilitation Center in Many. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eugene and Rena Berel Williams; sister, Ruth Williams Allums and brother Billy Ray Williams. Marvin was very patriotic and he loved seeing the American flag waving. He had strong feelings towards America, freedom and the brave military men and women who kept it free. He was an elected member of the Florien Board of Aldermen for several years, proudly helping to maintain the policies and procedures put in place for his hometown. Marvin loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime electrician, which included work on air conditioners, land and water drilling rigs and finally retiring from Boise Cascade.

Thomas “Tom Tom” Mizell

Thomas Wade Mizell “Tom Tom,” 41, died October 27, 2016 at Willis Knighton in Shreveport. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Dean Mizell. He is survived by his children, Ashley Mizell of Alaska and Dalton Mizell of Tennessee; two fur babies, Jazzy May and Molly May; mother, Lolette Mizell of Robeline; brother, Joey Mizell and wife, Tammy, of Many; sister, Missy Mitchell and husband, Mark, of Robeline; niece, Chelsea Mitchell; nephews, Tanner, Jesse and Jace; brother by choice, Trey Hardee and wife, Janie, and their children, Ella and Thomas; and a host of family and friends. Tom Tom was a caring, goodhearted man and a wonderful son. He lived to work on and restore cars. He loved his family and he loved life. He spent his spare time helping his friends; always there to help out no matter what time of day it was you could count on Tom Tom.
