FFA members from Many High School and Many Jr. High traveled to the Louisiana State Fairgrounds in Shreveport on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28 to compete in the Northwest Louisiana District Livestock Show. The students done very well, bring home numerous awards.

Class 1 – 1st Place and Grand Champion Yorkshire, Amanda Simmons.
Class 2 – 1st Place and Grand Champion Duroc, Caleb Burkett.
Class 3 – 1st Place and Reserve Champion AOB, Samantha Simmons.
Class 4 – 1st Place and Grand Champion AOB, C. J. Remedies.
Three Many High School students auditioned recently for the Louisiana Music Educators District II honor band. They competed against schools of all sizes from seven parishes and all three earned spots in the district honor band. They are Tobie Campbell, Nicole Lovelady, and Brayden Hunt. They will attend the District Honor Band Clinic on Friday, Feb. 3 and will perform a concert on Saturday, Feb. 4 at Alexandria Senior High School. Molly Key, eighth grade clarinet player from Many Jr. High, also earned a spot in the Jr. High Honor Band.
Area 4H-ers and FFA members shined during the Sabine Parish Spring Livestock Show held at the Many Fairgrounds on Thursday, Jan. 26.

PreK Students of the Week are Valencia Carter and Brylee Nichols.
Cardasia Johnson, Alysia Montellano, Hailie Flores, Maggie Ryan, Dillon Feaster and Sincere Gasaway were named Students of the Week in kindergarten.
In the first grade classes, Jeremiah James, LaKenya Johnson, Jayvion Smart, and T’Keyah Thomas were named Students of the Week.
Second grade Students of the Week are Neely Fluitt, Kejaun Clifton, Hunter Atkins, Camryn Ford, and Brayden Sepulvado.
Florien High School Senior Beta members Kim Slaughter, Katie Leitz, Karley Oxley, Hayes Blackmon, Marilyn Anderson, Jessica Boagni, Lincoln Pearce, and Marissa Garner attended the State convention on January 19-20, 2012, at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana. Katie, Karley, Marilyn, Jessica, and Marissa performed a song in front of a crowd of thousands. Others competing were: Lincoln in Spelling, Kim in English, and Hayes in Math. The group was accompanied by Mrs. Suzanne Leitz and club sponsor, Mrs. Jodi Cole.
The Florien first grade classroom of Tina Manasco put their Social Studies and Math skills to work during the Christmas season. Santa’s Christmas elf came to visit and the Super Kids class needed to give him a name.
Parker University College of Chiropractic presented Kimberly Ann Litton the Doctor of Chiropractic degree during its 79th graduating class ceremony held at Irving Bible Church in Irving, Texas on Dec. 10, 2011.
Dr. Litton is the daughter of Charles and Dianne Litton and is a native of Montgomery. She is the granddaughter of the late Clarence and Gladys Butts of Montgomery and the late Thomas and Mallie Litton, Sr., of Pleasant Hill.
One thousand eighty-one students at Northwestern State University were named to the Honor List for the Fall 2011 semester.
Students on the Honor Roll must be enrolled full-time at Northwestern State and have a grade point average of between 3.0 and 3.49.
