The Sabine Parish Master Gardeners will hold their annual “Down and Dirty” gardening seminar on Saturday, Feb. 25. Topics will include color in the landscape, gardening for wildlife, and hanging baskets. Featured will be a number of special guest speakers, lunch, door prizes and a plant sale.
The event is sponsored by the Sabine Master Gardeners, and is open to the general public. Costs to attend are $30 per person, which includes lunch.

The parents of Trixylynn Mokehana Levi and Jesse Tackett Curtis are happy to announce the engagement of their chidlren. Trixy is the daughter of Mrs. Ruth Levi and the late James “Kimo” Levi. Jesse is the son of Jess and Wendy Curtis. The couple will unite in marriage on June 3, 2012, in Kona, Hawaii. Trixy received a B.A. degree in business from the Vanguard University of Southern California in May 2010. Jesse received a B.A. degree in sociology from the University of Southern California in May 2011.

She has two sisters, Makalin and Chloe Craig. Her grandparents are Jessie Sims and Sherry Lindsey of Ft. Jesup and Mike and Sue Marbut of Robeline.

The Sabine Red Hats will have their meeting at Trail Boss in Natchitoches on Monday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m.
The group will meet at Toledo Town’s Market Basket at 10 a.m. and carpool. They will also have pickup available at the old Walmart parking lot at 10:15 a.m.
The Sabine Master Gardeners will be hosting their ninth annual Down and Dirty Garden Seminar on Feb. 25 at the Cypress Bend Golf Resort and Conference Center on Toledo Bend. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the programs begin promptly at 10 a.m.

Kim Pilcher and Dwight and Deanna Brownlee proudly announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their children, Carrick Wade Pilcher and Lindsay Faye Brownlee. Carrick is a 2010 graduate of Florien High School and is employed at Boomerang Tubing in Liberty, Texas. He is the grandson of Jim and Mary Pilcher and the late Lynn Horn Oxley. Lindsay is a 2011 graduate of Hardin High School and is the granddaughter of Margie Simons and Mary Jo and Gene Brownlee.
