Lou Ella Chism

Lou Ella Chism, 79, of Many died on Sept. 5, 2010, with her family at her side.

She was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Gandy to the late Archie Ray and Edith Mae (Powell) Newman. A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt, she was a blessing to everyone who knew her.

She will be greatly missed by her sons, Hugh and daughter-in-law, Lynn, of Shreveport; Bill and daughter-in-law, Robin, of Henagar, Ala.; Carl and daughter-in-law, Peggy, of Robeline; Danny and daughter-in-law, Christine Donaldson, of Florien; daughter, Judy and son-in-law, Audie Hunt, of Simpson; grandchildren, Lacy and husband, Andre Whitaker; Bill, Jr., and wife, Cindy Chism; Trisha and husband, Jason Dickerson; Mandy, Justin, Bradly and fiancee, Mary; Cody, Steven, Jonathan Chism, Michael and wife, Kim Semons; and Deanna and husband, Coy Gremillion; great-grandchildren, Clayton and Landon Dickerson, Jamie and Michael Chism, Rachel Selby, Sean and wife, Amber; Justin, Jesse, and Candace Semons; great-great-grandchildren, Eli and Lexie Semons and Ava Grace Selby; sister, Sue and husband, Jimmy Livingston; brother, Frank Newman; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members who all knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children William Thomas, Jr., Sheila Jean, Ronald, Donald and Baby Chism; and siblings Lorie Martinez, Louis, Delma Lee and Ray “Boogie” Newman.

Pallbearers included grandsons Bill Jr., Justin, Bradly, Cody, Steven and Jonathan Chism. Honorary pallbearers included grandson Michael Semons and grandsons-in-law Jason Dickerson and Andre Whitaker.

Services were held at the First Baptist Church of Many on Sept. 8 with Pastor Calvin Phelps. Interment at Toro Cemetery in Florien followed.
