Geoghagan Reed appointed to La. Pharmacy Board

On July 30, Gov. Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the La. Board of Pharmacy, with one appointee, Pamela Geoghagan Reed, the daughter of Robert Dale and Delores Geoghagan of Many, having local ties.

The board serves to regulate the practice of pharmacy in Louisiana in the interest of health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the state of Louisiana.

According to statute, the board is comprised of 17 gubernatorial appointees, which are subject to Senate confirmation. The governor must select two licensed pharmacists from each pharmacy district from those receiving the highest number of nominations. One at-large member represents the consumers of Louisiana. Each appointee serves a six year term.

She has worked for Walmart for 15 years and currently serves as manager of the O’Neal Lane Super Walmart store in Baton Rouge and was promoted to Pharmacy Area Manager in 2007, becoming responsible for over 55 pharmacists at 13 Walmart locations. She is in charge of their scheduling, routine audits, training, recruiting, and many facets of compliance, leadership development and budgeting.

Recently, she worked on the “Shots for Tots” coalition with Supriya Jindal, the first lady of Louisiana. The program works to ensure all Louisiana children have received proper immunizations.

Reed was raised in Sabine Parish, attending school locally at Many High School, and after graduation enrolled at Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana at Monroe) where she obtained a bachelor of pharmacy degree in 1993.

She met her husband, Brad Reed, while attending pharmacy school, and they married shortly after graduation. They are the proud parents of two children, 12-year-old Hagan and eight-year-old Heidi. They currently reside in Baton Rouge.
