Pearce wins state 4-H record book Competition

 Lincoln Pearce

Lincoln Pearce, a 4-H member from Florien High School, is a state winner for her 4-H Record Book entry into the state competition. She entered the Science, Engineering, and Technology Mission Mandate Category with her book on fashion. She completed the Under Construction 4-H project book and recorded her activities in which she participated that supported the work in her book.

Pearce serves as a member of the State 4-H Fashion Board and played a role in designing and teaching the educational activities provided for younger 4-H fashionistas at 4-H Fashion Camp earlier this year in January. She has provided instruction to 4-H’ers on fashion by helping with record book workshops held after school and at the Educational Day at the Zwolle Tamale Fiesta for the past three years.

She also has participated in Fashion Board Field Studies to New Orleans and New York City through 4-H where she has met designers, fabric store owners and buyers, and taken a look at fabric that was $300-400 per yard. Before her trip to New York City two weeks ago, Lincoln said her favorite activity was the Project Runway Experiment in New Orleans, where she was given $20 and one hour in a thrift shop. She was to purchase different garments and take them apart and put together to form a new creation.

Pearce was excited to learn that her prize for winning the State Record Book Competition was a trip to 4-H Club Congress in Atlanta, Ga. during Thanksgiving Break. Congratulations to Lincoln for her win, the hard work she has put into her projects paid off.

She is the 15-year-old daughter of Chris and Pam Pearce and big sister to Klien.
