Miss Sabine Freestate Queen Paige Edwards of Ebarb had a “Smokin’ good time”, June 26 at the 18th Annual Smoked Meat Festival in Ville Platte. The festival was the idea of Vietnam Vets. They worked hard and all funds collected at the event were given back to the community.

The Smoked Meat Cook-off is held in Ville Platte every year. Great music and the friendliest people complete the event.

Edwards was treated like a queen. She had all the free food and lemonade she could handle. Plates of smoked pork, jambalaya, bacon wrapped shrimp and crab cakes were just a few of the items she enjoyed.

Sunday, June 20, Edwards also attended the annual pageant.

Since winning the title of Miss Sabine Freestate Queen, Paige has been very busy. She has attended more than 20 festivals, parades and pageants.

Edwards says, “The Sabine Freestate Pageant is less than four months away, ladies. It is not too early to plan to participate, so pull on your boots and hitch up your britches and come vie for the title of 2010 Miss Sabine Freestate Queen.”

Edwards is the 18-year-old daughter of Carolyn Sepulvado and Tommy Baker of Ebarb. She is a 2010 graduate of Ebarb High School and plans on attending Northwestern State University this fall.
