Dear Mr. Gentry,
My late parents always taught me to say “thank you” when people do thoughtful things. It is in this spirit that I write this Letter to the Editor.
For the past six years you have been kind enough to publish the Bass Unlimited wrap-up story I have written on behalf of the Toledo Bend Lake Association. We are very, very grateful for your paper’s support and that of all the folks in Sabine Parish who help to make this community event possible. Unfortunately, I was out of town during this year’s Banquet and could not write the story; hence, the reason for this letter.
In this year’s acknowledgements, Malcom and Roderick Williams of Williams Brothers Furniture were overlooked. For the past four years, their store has provided the Lake Association with a plasma television, together with all of the accompanying accessories to make a very nice entertainment center worth several thousand dollars. Because of their generous donations over the years, our all-volunteer organization has raised a lot of money by raffling this entertainment equipment. As you know, the dollars we make from Bass Unlimited go back into making Toledo Bend Lake a better fishery and to a few community projects, aimed primarily at young people.
I hope your readers will join me and all of the members of TBLA in saying a huge “thank you” to Malcom and Roderick. They are the kind of folks who help to make Toledo Bend Lake and all of Sabine Parish a great place to live and work.
Lastly, in the spirit of the “thank you’s” my parents instilled in me, I want you to know how much I have sincerely appreciated all of the help you and your staff have extended to me personally. I cannot think of a single time I have asked for help in publicizing a community event that you have failed to help.
Sincerely,
Mona Davis
