Funeral services for Elizabeth “Betty” Hopkins, 84, of Vidalia, will be held at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery on June 30 at 11 a.m. with Bro. Bobby Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Young’s Funeral Home in Vidalia from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on June 29.
Mrs. Hopkins was born Sept. 16, 1925 in Rich Hill, Mo., and died June 28, 2010, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia. She was a proud and loving mother to her children, who were very lucky to have her as their mother. She had a love and special way of taking care of children. Mrs. Hopkins loved to write poetry and short stories, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Hardy Adron Hopkins; parents, Charles Henry and Edith Mae White; and brother, Robert Charles White.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Edith Ann Hopkins of Vidalia; son, Hardy Hopkins, Jr., and wife, Mary Ellen, of Prairieville; Mary Beard of Vidalia, and Thomas Hopkins and Jane Reh of Mena, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Jeff Hopkins and wife, Sue, of Monroe; Kim Luebkeman and husband, Bill, of Baton Rouge; Sarah Beard of Pensacola, Fla., Emily Beard and fiance, Travis Barfield, of Vidalia; Brian Beard of Ruston; and Leslie and Mark Hopkins, both of Benton, Ill; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
