The PALS program encourages students to learn through experiences. In order to do that, students have to get outside of the classroom walls. The Negreet/Ebarb PALS site did just that.
Negreet/Ebarb PALS students, grades K-3, took a field trip to Adai Indian Cultural Center in Robeline on June 11. Students learned about the Adai Indian tribe history, viewed Adai Indian regalia and artifacts, toured the historical houses, and even joined in some Indian dances and games! Afterwards, students went to Country Lanes Bowling Center, where they enjoyed some pizza, bowling, and video games.
Negreet/Ebarb PALS students in grades four through eight, took a field trip to R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport on June 18. Students started off the morning with bowling and video games at All-Star Lanes and pizza at Mr. Gatti’s, before going to the museum. At the R.W. Norton Art Gallery, students participated in an activity taken from the works of Matisse and toured the art gallery. They saw silversmith works of Paul Revere, learned the difference in landscape, still life, seascape, and portraits, viewed an artist’s LARGE portrayal of Mount Everest in the Himalayas, and even saw a gun worth a million dollars made for Hitler! Students returned to school and shared their experience with their new principal, Mr. Gene Wright.
PALS will be wrapping up on June 24 To celebrate the last day, parents are invited to attend the Family Day functions held at Hodges Garden. Student crafts, cooking creations, art projects and a music production will be highlighted for the Ebarb and Negreet PALS students. Other sites will be there on this day as well. Site coordinators, Erika Rogers and Mary Ebarb, would like to extend a big “thank you” to all the parents who let their children attend the program.
They would also like to thank the staff.
“Without them, this would not have been possible,” says Mrs. Rogers.
