Frances McDonald Simmons, 73, died on June 17, 2010, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born July 28, 1936, in Converse to Bertie Talton McDonald and Minnie Alice McDonald.
Services will be held Monday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at Rose-Neath Mansfield with the Rev. Kent Greer, Shreveport Pentecostal Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery. Immediately following the graveside service, family and friends are invited for a reception at Mitchell Community Center.
Visitation will be held June 20 from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Mrs. Simmons loved her Lord and was very strong in her faith. Her grandchildren and Josh were her pride and joy, she loved them very much. She had a big heart and was a caregiver and sitter for many. Mrs. Simmons was a great cook and always showed up with food and always had a special request for certain foods from many. She was very outspoken and would always speak her mind, but in a nice way. She loved to make beautiful quilts for anyone who requested the. She also had a great love and tender heart for her animals.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Jerry I. Simmons; son, Richard Valery Simmons and wife, Suzie; grandson, Tyler; and granddaughter, Analeigh; son, Roger Kevin Simmons and grandsons Chase and Austin Simmons; brothers, Valery Loye McDonald and wife, Juanita; and Harry Talton McDonald and wife, Joyce.
The family also wishes to give a special thanks to Miss Thelma Claycomb.
Pallbearers were Thomas Ray Campbell, Leon Campbell, Larry Campbell, Dan Campbell, Jerry Wayne (Bill) Campbell, and Norman (Boogie) Campbell.
