Three Zwolle men have been charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery in the Feb. 24, 2008 shooting death of 22-year-old Shawn Edward Meshell, also of Zwolle, according to the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Dept. late Wednesday afternoon, March 10.
Charged were Malcolm Brian Montgomery, 37, who was already in jail on unrelated charges; George “Bull” Ebarb Jr., 24, and Wade “Worm” Sepulvado, 31.
Ebarb was arrested by Sabine investigators at the Florien plant of Boise; and Sepulvado was picked up at Kisatchie Treating in Noble.
More arrests are expected, according to Sheriff Guffey Pattison.
Meshell’s body was discovered stuffed into the trunk of his girlfriend’s car on Feb. 24, 2008. The vehicle had been driven to a remote area of Highway 191 and was not visible from the roadway. He had been missing since Feb. 21 and had been the target of a massive search by family, friends and the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Dept.
Meshell had been shot once in the back of the head at close range. No motive was ever established in his death.
UPDATE: Minutes after 6 p.m., Darcy Bass was picked up by La. State Police in Shreveport and charged in conjunction with the murder.
