Dear Editor,
Recently, The Sabine Index reported the ugly details of our beloved brother’s death. And while some would find his depression and suicide interesting, the impact of his life is much more newsworthy. And it’s to his life, I write:
William Mark Tiemann was the first son born to Bill and Alicia Tiemann on Sept. 11, 1957. He had three siblings, Melony, Marla and Matthew.
He served his country as a veteran in the U.S. Army in the 1970s, and had been married to Peggy Adams and had a son, Andrew Joseph Tiemann. He also had a grandson, Chace Allen Tiemann.
Mark was a very talented person and for the past 10 years lived and worked in Many as an independent home improvement specialist. If he could visualize it, he could build it.
He was an avid fisherman and fulfilled his life-long dream of living near Toledo Bend on the land he loved and developed.
Mark was a friend to all, and knew more jokes than most and lightened the hearts of family and friends with his humor. His warmth and generous, giving nature was a blessing to his friends and neighbors who could count on his help in a time of need.
His life made a difference in so many ways, such as saving a little girl who was drowning below murky waters to assisting others during Hurricane Rita. His acts of service are just too numerous to list.
He made a difference in death, as well. Just days after his passing, during a tribute given at a Bible Club within a public school, 11 students committed their lives to the Lord in response to the tribute to our brother.
Mark was loved by the lord, his family, and friends, and will be greatly missed.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to share more about our precious brother, Mark.
Sincerely,
His family (via Marla Hatchel, sister)
