A New Year … A New Beginning
With the advent of a New Year, may you treasure your fondest memories of Christmas. And, as we begin 2010, let us also be mindful that it is a time for new beginnings.
While many high notes for some, this past year has also been challenging for others. As we look forward to 2010, it is my hope that our community will continue to support those with special needs as we work together to ensure bright futures for all students, preparing them for success in both school and life. Try to encourage one another to make personal and professional changes in the New Year that support improvement.
As we begin 2010, may we remember that New Year’s Resolutions are important commitments that individuals make to themselves, to a project or an initiative, or the reforming of a habit – sometimes, a lifestyle changes that will be advantageous. The wording comes from the fact that such commitments normally go into effect on New Year’s Day and remain either until fulfilled or abandoned.
Resolutions can be short or long-term and in the case of education, they are traditionally long-term commitments. Whatever the resolution, the concept is to reflect upon annual improvement. As we all know, making resolutions is one matter - but keeping a New Year’s resolution and being successful is another and depends perseverance and many factors.
To be successful we must be committed to the long-term process it takes to achieve change. We must be prepared for setbacks along the way and not think of them as failures. Track your progress and celebrate your successes along the way.
While individuals generally make New Year’s resolutions that affect their personal lives, it is our hope that you will also renew your commitment to excellence in education knowing the profound impact it will have on the lives of others, especially the children of our parish, As we embark on a new year and new beginnings, please know that the Sabine Parish School Board is most appreciative for your continuing support and extends the warmest of wishes to you and yours for all things bright in 2010.
