The Sabine Index came into existence on Sept. 6, 1879, and is the oldest continually running business in Sabine Parish.
The paper publishes every Wednesday, along with a shopper, The Sabine Banner.
The current lake level for Toledo Bend reservoir is 169.33 The top of the power pool is 172 ft.msl and bottom of the power pool is 168 ft. msl.
